Biography
Shelly Schildroth is a lifelong Blue Hill resident and a third-generation Eagle. She came up through Blue Hill Consolidated School and GSA before earning a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Maine, a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Scranton, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Educational Leadership from the University of New England.
Her career has stayed close to home in the best sense: ten years teaching grades 3–5 at BHCS, a year as curriculum coordinator for Union 93, seven years as BHCS principal, and most recently three years as Curriculum Director for RSU 24. Along the way she's developed a particular soft spot for the moment a student turns what they've learned into something they're genuinely proud to show off — BHCS's bird and whale exhibitions among her favorites, and Shelly says, "Now I can't wait to see the amazing things that our students do during ISIP in particular. They are so creative and unique."
One memory sums up why she stayed in education: a quiet third grader, on the last day of school, who said nothing during a class share-circle — then tugged her sleeve on the way out and pointed to two words spelled out in dominoes: Thank you.
Shelly takes the helm at GSA believing students shouldn't have to choose between college prep and hands-on learning — and that Maine's leading place-based high school shouldn't ask them to. Her priorities: growing enrollment, stabilizing revenue, systematic campus improvement, and keeping the doors open to both rigorous academics and real-world career pathways.
