    Director of Finance and Operations (Search suspended till January)

    George Stevens Academy, a town academy in Blue Hill, Maine, of 320 students, seeks a Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) to oversee all aspects of the school’s finances with the primary responsibilities of strategic financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and reporting. The DFO is also responsible for all human resources oversight. The position reports to the Head of School and serves as a key member of the senior leadership team and several Board of Trustees committees. The position works closely with the Head of School, trustees, and the leadership team. Whoever takes this position will be part of a reimagining of the workings of the office, and how best to allocate financial duties with a half-time assistant (a newly created position). The ideal candidate is a mission-driven strategic thinker who has superb people skills, uncompromising judgment and integrity, preferably experience in an independent school, and a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion. The candidate will have the ability to balance and prioritize the competing needs of the school and be fair but firm when necessary.
