PLANNED GIVING

George Stevens Legacy Society

The George Stevens Legacy Society commemorates George’s founding legacy and honors those who choose to make gifts to GSA through their estates.

If you have already included GSA in a bequest or other planned gift, we hope you will let us know so that we can welcome you as a member of the George Stevens Legacy Society. Director of Advancement Rada Starkey (r.starkey@georgestevens.org) will happily answer any questions you may have.

Should you wish to make a planned gift, please download a letter of intent.

Opportunities for gift planning:

  • If your goal is to honor someone special with a tribute gift that costs you nothing during your lifetime, create a bequest through your will or trust by including a gift of cash, property, or a share of your estate. A bequest allows you to make a significant gift that does not affect your cash flow and can be changed at any time.

To learn more about making a planned giving bequest and to become a George Stevens Society member, please contact Rada Starkey, Director of Advancement, at 207-374-2800 orr.starkey@georgestevens.org.

  • If your goal is to make a gift while leaving more of your estate to your heirs, make a gift of retirement assets by naming George Stevens Academy a beneficiary of your retirement plan. With a gift of retirement assets, you can avoid up to 60% income tax of your retirement assets and pass less taxed assets to your heirs.

To inquire about gifts of retirement assets and learn how to become a George Stevens Society member, please contact Rada Starkey, Director of Advancement, 207-374-2800 or email her at r.starkey@georgestevens.org.

  • If your goal is to leverage an asset to make a significant gift, a gift of real estate will allow you to use the property during your life and upon your death, the property is transferred to George Stevens Academy. A gift of real estate will allow you to receive a charitable deduction during your lifetime.

To inquire about planned gifts and learn how to become a George Stevens Society member, please contact Rada Starkey, Director of Advancement, 207-374-2800 or email her at r.starkey@georgestevens.org.

  • If your goal is to make an extraordinary gift with minimal cost to yourself, make a gift of life insurance by naming George Stevens Academy beneficiary on an existing policy or donate a life insurance policy you no longer need. You will benefit from a tax deduction and possible future deductions through gifts to pay policy premiums.

To inquire about gifts of life insurance and how to become a George Stevens Society member, please contact Rada Starkey, Director of Advancement, 207-374-2800 or mail to r.starkey@georgestevens.org.

“We have seen over the years all the good that GSA has done in giving the children on this peninsula a solid foundation to be successful. We appreciate the unique opportunity a town academy has over a public school—the flexibility and creativity to offer and adapt programming that fits students’ needs, and the ability of faculty and staff to shape the best educational opportunities from the school’s existing resources. Adding an international boarding program has been especially meaningful to us, allowing us to welcome international home-stay students into our family’s lives."

“We have always made gifts to the GSA Fund, which goes directly into the annual operating budget, and the GSA Fund continues to be our preferred way of giving to the school. But we wanted to make as well a more permanent gift that will go to the school’s endowment, ensuring a strong future for GSA. Membership in the George Stevens Legacy Society will do exactly that."
