Biography
Amy Strother brings three decades of marketing, communications, and organizational leadership to her role as GSA's Communication Lead and Career & Technical Education (CTE) Advisor — expertise built running her own healthcare company then later an upholstery and design service, and now Waxwing Business, the consulting firm she co-founded in 2022. At Waxwing, Amy leads marketing, communications, and workforce-development strategy for clients including Brooklin Boat Yard and Hewes & Company, giving her direct, current insight into what coastal Maine's trades and employers actually need from young talent entering the workforce.
Workforce development runs through Amy's whole career. She built recruitment and retention systems for a nursing workforce and has trained skilled tradespeople — including reentry populations rebuilding employable lives after incarceration or recovery. She's a parent of a current GSA student and serves on the board of SOAR, the parent/community nonprofit that supports the school; this work keeps her grounded in what's actually happening for kids on the campus. Her broader community track record includes board service with the American Heart Association, Boys & Girls Club, Manship Theatre, and O’Brien House Recovery Center plus volunteer work with Blue Hill Consolidated School, George Stevens Academy, and Peninsula Pride.
Outside of work, Amy reads, cooks, and travels, and is a committed dog rescuer. She lives in Blue Hill with her family.
