What do you like most about GSA?
The incredible teaching staff at GSA never fails to amaze me. I love how relevant they make their subjects, how innovative and engaged they are with the students, how thoughtful they are in leading discussions. It's just plain impressive.
What program is especially meaningful to you?
The sailing team. It's a small but dedicated team, cheerfully braving freezing water and windy days for the sheer joy of it.
How important is GSA to the larger community?
It's a pillar. I love seeing all the ways that the town supports GSA- that local alum are so generous in offering ISIP internships, that GSA gear is sold in the grocery store, that the local Y has "Home of the Eagles" on its side, that the Packet prints the names of the students who made the honor roll.
Is there an aspect of our mission or vision that you are especially passionate about?
I am particularly passionate about the fact that GSA serves college bound students and workforce bound students alike. It's a much harder nut to crack than just focusing on one or the other, and it is such a healthy way to approach a high school education: "let's prepare you to be out there in the world, bringing your best."
My professional home is in Sales Enablement for the tech sector, with a focus on building presentation skills (having earned Toastmasters' highest level of distinction (DTM) in public speaking along the way). In support of GSA, I co-chair the GSA Advancement Committee, serve on the Head-of-School search committee, am the Assistant to the Sailing Coach, and play an active role on the Friends of the Dorm team.
Outside of GSA, I currently serve in leadership roles within my faith community and at the Kollegewidgwok Yacht Club where my love of sailing and deep attachment to Blue Hill Bay was fostered.
