Be it working in radioactive pits, hiking mountains, or sailing the seven seas, Steve brings an extensive science background to GSA and thoroughly enjoys science teaching and outdoor education. Steve initially earned a degree in environmental science and has work experience in the field of high hazard environmental remediation. After working as an environmental scientist and completing his master’s degree, Steve has enjoyed teaching math and science these past many years. Steve also has comprehensive outdoor leadership training through the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Youth Opportunities Program and has presented at the Progressive Educator Network’s national conference. Steve is thrilled to be working at a coastal town academy with an opportunity to help students learn about Earth systems while doing science. Steve, his wife, son, and dog Murphy live in Orrington.
