TRACK TEAM WINS BIG AT PVCs!

SAILING TEAM CELEBRATES THE END OF SEASON WITH PAPER PLATE AWARDS

ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES ANNOUNCED

This year's inductees represent nearly four decades of GSA athletics, from the late 1970s through the late 2010s, and include championship-winning athletes, a longtime GSA coach, and accomplished collegiate and post-collegiate competitors. Two members of the class — brothers Seth Cole '97 and Toby Cole '00 — were teammates on GSA's 1997 State Championship baseball team.

The 2026 Inductees

Lawrence "Larry" David Gray, Class of 1979

A multi-sport athlete in soccer, outdoor track, basketball, and baseball, Larry Gray was a member of GSA's 1979 State Championship basketball team and competed at the Eastern Maine finals in multiple sports. He went on to coach girls' varsity basketball and tennis at GSA, earning more than 100 wins in each role and leading his tennis teams to a state championship and multiple Northern Maine championships.

Seth Allen Cole, Class of 1997

Seth Cole helped lead GSA to its first state baseball title in 1997 and was a Maine Senior All-Star selection. He played four years of baseball at Saint Michael's College, where he set the program's career runs-scored record, and went on to serve as the Purple Knights' head baseball coach and sports information director. He later coached baseball at Traip Academy from 2014 to 2022 and continues to serve his community as a board member of York Little League and an MPA basketball official.

Toby Cole, Class of 2000

A McDonald's All-Star and 2000 PVC Class C Baseball Player of the Year, Toby Cole was a standout in baseball, basketball, and golf. He played three years of baseball at Springfield College, earning NEWMAC All-Conference and All-New England honors. Today he serves as Regional Director for Jobs for Maine's Graduates (JMG) and was named the 2020 VFW Maine High School Teacher of the Year. He coaches at Calais High School and is Vice President of both the Downeast IAABO Board 18 and Calais Little League.

Sarah K. Clapp, Class of 2002

A four-year varsity athlete in soccer, basketball, and softball, Sarah Clapp captained all three sports and helped lead GSA teams to multiple Eastern Maine championships and a Class B basketball title. She holds several GSA women's soccer records, including most career assists. A 2006 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Clapp also ran Division I cross country and track. She is a Command Pilot with more than 3,100 flight hours, including more than 1,500 combat hours over eight deployments. On June 1, 2026, she takes command of the 101st Air Refueling Wing, Maine Air National Guard.

Morgan Dauk, Class of 2017

Morgan Dauk was a four-sport athlete at GSA, competing in basketball, soccer, softball, and track and field. She was named a Miss Maine Basketball Finalist, a McDonald's All-Star, a PVC First Team selection in soccer, and a 3-time Class C State Champion in javelin (’15. ’16’, ’17). She continued her athletic career at Williams College, where she played basketball and competed in track and field, earning NESCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2018, 2019, and 2021, and setting the Williams women's javelin record at 39.21 meters. She is currently pursuing a Master's in Physician Associate Studies at the University of Utah.

Ages: K–7th Grade

Players will build soccer skills, teamwork, and confidence in a fun and active environment led by Acadia Fire coaches.

Soaring Eagles Summer Basketball Clinic

Led by GSA Coaches and Players

Dates: June 29 – July 2
Time: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Grades: Entering 3rd–7th grade
Cost: $60

This clinic focuses on skill development, fun competitions, and games for young athletes looking to improve and have fun on the court this summer.

Girls Volleyball Clinic

Led by GSA Coaches and Players

Location: BHCS Field
Dates: Mondays & Wednesdays — June 22, 24, 29 & July 1
Time: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Grades: Incoming 5th–8th grade
Cost: $20 total

Players will work on serving, passing, hitting, teamwork, and fundamentals through fun games and competitions. All skill levels are welcome!

GSA Summer Baseball Camp

Led by Coach Dan Kane and the GSA Baseball Staff

Dates: Monday–Friday, July 13–17
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM daily
Ages: 9–12 years old
Cost: $100 per athlete

Campers will work on hitting, fielding, pitching, base running, and game situations while developing skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Summer Youth Track Program

A fun summer track and field program for athletes across the Blue Hill Peninsula, including opportunities to compete in USATF meets throughout Maine.

First Practice: Tuesday, June 23
Practice Times: Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM at BHCS
First Meet: Thursday, July 2
Meet Schedule: Thursdays, July 2–23 (Bangor area)
State Championship Meet: Saturday, August 8
Cost: $90 for the season (+ separate USATF membership fee for meet participants)

Events include sprints, distance races, relays, long jump, high jump, shot put, turbo javelin, and more.

Down East Family YMCA Summer Camp at GSA

Hosted at George Stevens Academy from 7am-4pm, Monday-Friday from June 24th through August 21st for 1st-8th graders.

The YMCA Summer Camp at GSA offers daily adventures, games, field trips, water fun, and opportunities for kids to make new friends all summer long.

Driver’s Education Information

**Please note that the cost has gone up from $555 to $585 To offset rising prices of gas, maintenance and insurance.**

To register, please call Julie or Dan at Driver’s Edge at (207) 356-9833 to sign up and receive the necessary paperwork.

The course fee is $585 and does not include the permit test. The permit test costs $39.95 for AAA members and $49.95 for non-members.

Registration is first-come, first-served, so early sign-up is encouraged.

Orientation will be held in the Library.   A parent or guardian must be present for orientation.  Classes will take place in Ms. Richards’ Room (Room 162).

Schedule:

• June 15 – Orientation: 5:30–7:00 PM

• June 16 – Class 1: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM

• June 17 – Class 2: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM

• July 27 – Permit Test: 9:00–11:00 AM

Parking Notice:

Please park in the lot by the old store (Merrill and Hinckley’s) for orientation and all Driver’s Ed classes. Construction will be taking place near the gym, and that area must remain clear of pedestrians.  Thank you!
