GSA came in first place in the Downeast Math League, comprised of every school in Hancock and Washington counties. We have a good chance at winning the state meet on April 7th. These students won individual medals.

Acadia Simmons - 2nd place 11th grade

Lorenzo Argentati - 1st place 11th grade and 2nd place overall

GSA brought three groups to the Maine State Jazz Festival at Hampden Academy last Saturday, March 14th. 

The GSA Honors Combo, "Reptilicus" features Herschel Bach on keys, Eddie Crownover on guitar, Bailey Townsend on bass, Fox Sweimler on drums, Acadia Simmons on alto sax, Annabelle Kneisel on tenor sax and flute, and Logan Townsend on trumpet. Reptilicus received a silver medal rating and Bailey Townsend was selected as an outstanding festival soloist.

The afterschool combo, "Pavlov's Cats" under the direction if Chris Pirsos, features Cody Chattin on guitar, Levi Lyman on bass, Owen Hughes on drums, Paloma Kassof on keys, Amelia Watters on trumpet, Rebecca Ongaro on vocals, and Porter Gilbert on tenor sax. Pavlov's Cats received a silver rating and Rebecca Ongaro was recognized as an outstanding soloist! 

The GSA Jazz Band received a bronze medal for their performance. All the students brought passion and energy to their performances and represented our amazing musical legacy with honor! 

Thanks to the students and families for all the hard work getting these sets together since last November!  GO JAZZ!

This course would be ideal for any staff, faculty or students. Especially, students interested in babysitting over the summer as this credential is often wanted by parents in caring for their children. 

Students who will be entering Health Occupations I in the Fall will be required to do a separate CPR course (Basic Life Saving) and this will be provided early in the fall.
