In 1978, the National Art Educational Association (NAEA) began the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) program specifically for high school students for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. Since NAHS is the art counterpart of NHS, selection of members follows a similar in-school process and is decided by a nominating committee of five. Nomination requirements are: 1. Only Juniors and Seniors will be eligible National Honor Society Students are selected to be members by a five-member Faculty Council, appointed by the Headmaster, which bestows this honor upon qualified students on behalf of the faculty of our school. Students in the 11th and 12th grades are eligible for membership. For the scholarship criterion, a student must have a cumulative grade point average of 90 or better. A formal induction ceremony is held at the school to recognize all newly selected members. Once inducted, new members are required to maintain the same level of performance in all four criteria (or better) that led to their selection. |
